“The light in Barcelona is quite different from the light in Tokyo. And, the light in Tokyo is different from that in Prague. A truly great structure, one that is meant to stand the tests of time, never disregards its environment. A serious architect takes that into account. He knows that if he wants presence, he must consult with nature. He must be captivated by the light. Always the light. Always."
Simon Wyler, Architect - from the movie "The Lake House"
My name is Rick Miles and I’m developing this website to share my architecture, portfolio, resume, and anything else architecturally related that I find interesting.
Upon serving 30 years in the United States Navy, that included deploying to the Persian Gulf 10 times on 6 different ships and as a Naval Aircrewman in EP-3 reconnaissance aircraft, I have resurrected my childhood ambition of becoming an Architect. Driven by the desire to create, my inspirations include Frank Lloyd Wright, Frank Gehry, and Pierre Koenig. Architecture is a passion that I will pursue for the rest of my life and I intend to leave this earth, as Frank Lloyd Wright did, while overseeing my final project.
